HIV vaccine clinical trials take center stage at world’s largest global health conference

"We are all sick of the magnitude and persistence of this epidemic,” said Fred Hutch’s Dr. Larry Corey (above) in July at AIDS 2016 in Durban, South Africa. “We need a potent and durable vaccine so that your family and my family, irrespective of color or gender or sexual orientation, can be protected against this disease.” Corey leads the Hutch-based global HIV Vaccine Trials Network, which is launching three vaccine trials in South Africa, South America and the U.S. to test three distinct approaches to an HIV vaccine.
