Where do you want to climb?

About me I am a chemist by training, and have spent the last 10 years involved in Biotech Investing, first on the sell side, and most for the last two years with Sofinnova Ventures. I am a theatre nerd turned runner, and this will be my first true multi-day trek in over a decade. I have thought of climbing Kilimanjaro ever since being in Africa over 8 years ago and seeing it from my airplane window. Why am I doing this?
Inspiration comes in strange ways. I heard about Luke's Everest trip, and was inspired. I stood amongst the ancient stone temples in Cambodia recently, and was inspired. Inspired to do more. So far in my career, I have had the opportunity to take a swing at cancer from arm's length - this feels like an opportunity to make a more direct hit. To make the fight personal. And as far as a group that inspires - the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a leader in research and in care that can bring new therapies forward and make a difference in peoples' lives. I am under no delusions. I run, I climb, but I haven’t ever done a trip like this. I have no idea how my body will respond to the altitude. I have no idea, as of yet, how to train, and how to fundraise. But I love a challenge, and cannot wait to be part of a Biotech community that is coming together to get this done.
Every and any amount helps to get me to my fundraising goal. I will try to keep you posted along the way on my training and on the journey! I cannot do this without you. Please make a gift Please click on the "Donate" button to give to the Climb to Fight Cancer. Every gift helps! |
