This is my 2nd year participating in the 2020 Defeat Multiple Myeloma Run & Walk because I want to take action and have an impact in the fight against this cancer. I want to bring new treatments to patients and provide the hope of a cure. Will you help me?
Just a little background... I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in December 2017 after experiencing nearly 9 months of seemingly unrelated symptoms and meeting with multiple specialists over many, many appointments. It was a very frustrating time. When I was finally diagnosed, I had lost 30 lbs and 4 inches in height and was very ill. Fortunately, my treatment was very effective and I'm in remission and doing well with continued chemotherapy maintenance. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for Multiple Myeloma. Many of you have asked how you can help me, and here's an easy way how.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts. No donation is too small and it is very much appreciated!
100% of all funds raised will go directly to advancing multiple myeloma cancer research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center!
What is Multiple Myeloma?
Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells found in bone marrow. Normal plasma cells help the immune system fight disease, but when plasma cells become cancerous they grow out of control and can produce a tumor called a plasmacytoma. If someone has more than one plasmacytoma, they have multiple myeloma.
Why Support this Event?
Defeat Multiple Myeloma’s mission is to raise awareness of multiple myeloma while supporting research that seeks to discover new treatments, improve the quality of life for myeloma patients, and ultimately find a cure for this devastating form of cancer. Funds from the 2020 Defeat Multiple Myeloma event will continue to support immunotherapy research and clinical trials at Fred Hutch which are using CAR-T cells and have shown very promising early results for patients.
