2019 OBLITERIDE - PLEASE JOIN IN MY COMMITMENT TO CURING CANCER FASTER.

Friends and Family,

On August 10, 2019, I am once again riding to accelerate the pace of lifesaving cancer research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.  Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is a globally-renowned organization committed to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer, HIV/AIDS and other diseases. The 7th annual Obliteride brings together thousands of cyclists, runners, walkers, volunteers, supporters, and sponsors for a weekend of fitness, fun, and fresh air in solidarity with others impacted by cancer.

This is my third year participating in Obliteride, and I'm excited to take on the challenge of riding 100 (hilly) miles around beautiful Seattle.  As many of you are aware, the cruelty of cancer really hit home for my family last July when my wife Ana was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer.  It has been a long and at-times arduous journey.  However, a journey undoubtedly made easier by the outpouring of love and support she's received from family and friends both near and far, not to mention the world-class medical care at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance which we're so fortunate to have literally down the hill from our home.  SCCA brings together the leading research teams and cancer specialists at Fred Hutch, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's Hospital, so my fundraising efforts have a particularly personal motivation this year.

Fred Hutch scientists are truly the pacesetters of cancer research, discovering new ways to detect cancers earlier, developing effective treatments with fewer side effects, and learning how to prevent cancers from growing in the first place. In just six years, Obliteride has raised over $15 million - - every dollar going directly toward the life-changing and life-saving research that has had such an immense and positive impact on my family and so many others.

Ride with me, donate to my ride, or spread the word about Obliteride and the amazing work happening at Fred Hutch.  Any and all support is greatly appreciated.

A kind and humble "thank you."
