Join me in advancing research that will save lives

I’m Obliteriding to cure cancer faster — and I need your support!

This August, I'm joining thousands of other people to walk, run and bike under the gorgeous Seattle sunshine and along the glittering waters of our ocean and lakes. We're Obliteriding for one purpose: To raise money for research on cancer and other deadly diseases at Fred Hutch.

The goal I set for myself is to raise $1,468 — one dollar for every woman who dies of cancer each year in my county, according to the Washington State Cancer Data Registry (yes, I'm a nerd).

Every Obliteride-raised dollar goes to lifesaving research at Fred Hutch — I place I am proud to work, because I've seen firsthand the amazing brains doing research, the dedication, the long hours, the passion and commitment to conducting groundbreaking science and translating those discoveries into new treatments and interventions and cures that save lives.

The three Nobel Prizes hung on the wall of our main building tell you something about what an amazing place the Hutch is. But that's only a fraction of the story. The nation's oldest cancer prevention program. The world's largest HIV vaccine research effort. World-renowned research on immune-harnessing cancer cures. Brilliant young researchers pushing the envelope with new technologies that reveal cancer's secrets like never before. The list goes on.

Fred Hutch researchers make discoveries that save lives. But they need help: Research isn't cheap. I Obliteride because Fred Hutch scientists are poised to turn my dollars into groundbreaking insights that save the lives of my loved ones and neighbors and people I've never met. You can help save lives, too. Join me.

Thank you.
