It is that time of the year where I am training again for the FRED HUTCH OBLITERIDE 50 Miler with my team PACIFIC PM PEDALERS, which will occur on August 10th. I am in my 5th year of participating in this great event which has raised over $14.6M since its beginnings 7 years ago.
As many of you are personally touched by cancer, through a family member or friend, I have been personally impacted too. Last year my dad passed away after a long 9-year fight with a multiple myeloma cancer which was about 7 years longer than first diagnosed. These extra years of time with my dad I attribute to his determination to beat the cancer, but only because the Fred Hutch advancements in curing cancer allowed him to live this fight and experience more life. We are very grateful for this time.
And while his life was greatly extended with the incredible work of the Fred Hutch scientists and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance care teams, the emotional and physical toll it took on him was huge. I strongly believe that curing cancer is within reach and curing cancer in a way to reduce the impacts on the body & mind are also achievable.
The Hutch will be the place to make this happen, so I strongly urge and ask you to support me, and my team to help raise a lot of money for this war on cancer, of which 100% goes directly to CURE CANCER at the Hutch.
A small donation of $20, $50, or $100 would be greatly appreciated and will add up quickly. Of course, more is always great too! Fundraising will go through mid-September.
Thanks for your consideration and especially a big thanks to all of you who have been a supporter of ours in the past years.
