This year will be my 6th Obliteride. While I was battling cancer 33 years ago, little did I know that I'd be alive today and be able to do my small part of trying to find a cure of a disease that affects so many of us in one way or another.
Four years ago, Kari and I raised over $6,000.00 in our first year of riding in the Obliteride. During the last two years, we were members of the Knudson Lumber Cancer Kickers Chain Gang and our team raised with the help of Knudson Lumber, nearly $35,000.00! Now that Kari and I have retired, we're riding solo again, but hope you will still support us.
Kari and I will again be riding 100 miles on August 10th to raise money for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. They're partners with The Seattle Cancer Alliance, U of W Hospital (where I was treated), and Children's Hospital- all in Seattle. I know that if it wasn't for these groups, I and a lot of other people would not be alive today!!
We need to keep working to help everyone that is sick at this moment or are going to get sick, and also to get to the point where cancer is wiped out forever, so I don't have to pedal 100 miles each year on the west side of the mountains and beg for money!
So, please support my ride. 100% of the money goes toward cancer research. You'll feel good that you did your part and helped a great cause! Thank you! Love, Marty
