The Summer of 2015 was the most difficult summer I can remember when we found out my wife Zarina was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer after a routine mammogram. We were devastated, frighten, and full of mixed emotions and really didn't know how to feel. From that point onwards it has been a long hard journey together as a family. After countless DR visits, many cycles of Chemo therapy it was difficult and painful to see the one you love change in front of your eyes. But then we saw the light at the end of the tunnel. After the surgery, radiation therapy Zarina started to make her journey to recovery. Through it all Zarina is a fighter and the strongest and most courageous person I know.

2 years after her diagnosis Zarina is now cancer free and making great progress. However, the fight still continues day to day as she struggles with her energy level and muscle aches from side effects of the medication such as Tamoxifen. A change in life style like eating fresh organic veggies and no meat have been a new way of life for all of us in our family. DR's will continue to monitor her for 5 additional years with regular checkups, mammograms and hormone regulating medication. It is heartbreaking to see firsthand the effects of Breast cancer affect a loved one. A feeling of guilt, helplessness and anger where all feelings I had experienced during our journey and I would hope that no one else I know has to go through.

When I moved to Seattle in the Winter of 2016 for a new job I saw a sign for Obliteride at University Villiage. This opened an opportunity for me to make a difference by getting involved in raising money for Cancer research and participate in a sport I am so passionate about.

This is my third year riding in the event, and I am proud to ride for Zarina and once again raise money for Cancer research. This is why I Obliteride.

Please join me in helping to put cancer to a stop.
