LET'S CURE CANCER FASTER!

I'm looking forward to Obliteride 2019, my 3rd year to participate. I've again joined a team captained by Kyle Martin, a close friend of nearly 30 years. Kyle is a cancer survivor, who first inspired me to try Obliteride in 2017. For 2019, I'm planning to the ride the 100-mile Challenage route (http://obliteride.org/ride/100-mile), which starts at UW in Seattle, rolls south along Lake Washington, through Renton, into Maple Valley, up and over Tiger Mt on the way into Issaquah, around the north end of Lake Sammamish, the south end of Mercer Island, and the south end of Lake Union, towards the finish line at Gasworks Park.

Cancer is horrible, devastating, and far too common, attacking half of all men and one-third of all women in the U.S. My wife, Kim, lost both her mom (Sharon Johnston, 2003) and step mom (Lori Simpson, 2016) to cancer, and two of my sisters-in-law lost their moms to cancer (Jeanne Brunette, 2018; Jo Anne Cassidy, 2017). Taking part in Obliteride honors the memory of family & friends who've lost the battle to cancer, while also funding the ongoing war against cancer, for all of those who will face it someday.

In 2018, the great generosity of family & friends pushed my fundraising total past my $2,500 goal, ending up at $2,840. So this year I am raising the goal to an even $3,000. I will need a lot of help to get there! So please join me in this effort to beat cancer, and make a donation to my ride. [UPDATE: as of June 11th, my fundraising total is $1,800, which is 60% of the way towards my goal].

Thank you!
