December 2016 my incredible mentor teacher, Bonnie Powers, lost her life due to ovarian cancer. She was a master at her craft with years of teaching ahead of her. She had tremendous impact and influence on McClure Middle School in the Seattle Public School District, and teachers like me looked to her as a mentor and an inspiration.
This is why I'm riding 50 miles with the CureCyclists team in Obliteride on August 11th - because Bonnie deserved more, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is providing pioneering and promising cancer research - among the top 5 in the nation. Obliteride raises important funds so Fred Hutch can continue making breakthroughs in cancer prevention, diagnostics and treatment.
I have a goal of raising $2,000, and I'm approaching $1,800. Can you help? No donation is too small. Please consider donating to my ride, and join me in this effort to put cancer in its place, behind us.
