I’m committing to Obliteride this August because I believe research is the fastest path to curing cancer, and I also believe the team at Fred Hutch can get us there. I'm riding 50 Miles or about 80km for the second time this year.
As you may remember, last year my longest ride pretraining was ~10 miles !!!!!
I finished obliteride last year in just over four hours, my goal this year is under 4, and to complete at least six training rides. Please join me in this effort to put cancer in its place, behind us.
Sadly, half of all men and one third of all women in the U.S. and 1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime.
Fred Hutch is learning more about cancer prevention, diagnostics and treatment and Obliteride (with your fiancial support) can help us get to cures faster. I now have the privilage of working in this field too! It was in a cafeteria at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, where the founders of Adaptive Biotechnologies were collaborating on a research project. Over lunch one day, they started asking questions related to isolating and amplifying T-cell receptors from the human genome when they had an “aha!” moment. Shortly after, in 2009, Adaptive Biotechnologies was born, with one mission - to change the course of medicine and improve patient care worldwide. Over the years Adaptive has successfully gained the interest of academic organizations and customers who understand the importance of sequencing the immune system in order to revolutionize the way we discover, diagnose and treat diseases. We believe in the power and brilliance of the adaptive immune system and its potential to cure. Our knowledge, passion, and willingness to challenge assumptions–and each other–will make a difference for patients and change the course of medicine.
In 2018, Adaptive announced a partnership with Microsoft Research’s Healthcare NexT initiative to combine high-throughput immunosequencing and expert bioinformatics with machine learning and artificial intelligence, to map the entire human immune system and change the way diseases are diagnosed. By combining Adaptive’s powerful immune sequencing technologies with Microsoft’s research and large-scale machine learning and cloud computing capabilities, the partners aim to create individual disease diagnostics and ultimately a universal diagnostic – all from a simple blood test. Adaptive is not just a pioneer but also a leader in immunosequencing that will change the course of medicine worldwide.
I come from a line well-established matriarchs, Jean Loudon and Anne Nemetz, who believed in the power of one person to better their community. My part is small, but I hope I make you proud!

Kick-off of fundraising Today I kick off my fundraising, thank you to all who donate early on in my fund Drive. I have some exciting things planned. We have a Mariners game with fireworks tonight, a casual wine bike ride through Woodinville Wine Country, and a pub crawl through the breweries of Redmond. I hope you join me as we raise funds to cure cancer faster! Throughout all of this, we remember, that one in three will be affected by cancer at some point in their lifetime.
