I'm riding for RBG, you and me. We DISSENT AGAINST cancer.

On this day, June 2nd, three years ago, a physician sat on a rolling stool as far away from me as she could get in the exam room, and braced herself to tell me I had cancer. Today, six surgeries, hundreds of needle sticks, thousands of dollars, and the inumerable aspects of chemo, including being told I likey had 2 years to live, I'm training for the Obliteride - an effort to raise research money to cure cancer faster.

This August, I am riding 100 miles and joining thousands of people in Seattle to bike, run, walk, and raise money to obliterate cancer. For me, this ride is a small effort to give back to so many who dedicate their energy to caring for and helping to cure people like me of a disease that attacks every dimension of a person’s wellness: physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual.

“Obliterate” is the precise word to apply to cancer. It deserves no place among us.

June 2nd is now my personal day to reflect in deepest gratitude. Included, is gratitude for each of you reading this far. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart. If making a contribution to this effort feels right, thank you for adding much needed ammunition to leverage against the formidable, but not insurmountable, beast named cancer.

With love and appreciation for your myriad of support,

Monica
