Obliteride is one of the major charitable events that takes place in Seattle hosted by Fred Hutch to raise money for cancer research. The event involves cyclist who are responsible for fundraising over the next several weeks and riding their bikes on August 13 to support the cause. This will be the fourth year EY Society has participated in the event and the first year for all of EY Seattle.
Why We Ride...
At EY, we are not only committed to building a better working world, but a better community for our people, our clients, and especially those close to us. It all starts here at home. This is a great opportunity for all of EY Seattle to come together and give back to the community while promoting teaming and camaraderie.
Sadly, half of all men and one third of all women in the U.S. will get cancer in their lifetime. Research is the fastest path to curing cancer and we also believe the team at Fred Hutch can get us there. Just recently, Fred Hutch announced that they are close to a cure that could be injected into patients to kill certain cancer cells, which can be created in large batches similar to the flu shot. This is just one example of the many amazing things the Hutch is doing for our community and across the globe.
