1 in 2 men will experience cancer in their lifetime. 1 in 3 women will.

This means that if you haven't been touched yet by cancer, it is almost certain that you will someday, whether it is yourself or someone you care about.

If that day comes and you find yourself at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and University of Washington, our team will be there.

For the last 8 years the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance's inpatient team of Advance Practice Providers has been caring for every single one of their patients that needs to be admitted to the hospital. It doesn't matter if you have breast cancer, lung cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, sarcoma, or nearly anything else. It doesn't matter if you're coming in for chemotherapy, with a pneumonia, with pain, or because you just can't manage at home for the time being. For the last 8 years, that has been our calling. Our team is there for our patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and unlike most medical services at the hospital, we have no cap. What that means is we don't divert our patients elsewhere. If there is a bed in the hospital, we will use it to care for our patients. It's for that reason that my team, the Platinum Team, has our own catch phrase...PLATINUM NEVER CAPS. Some services are sometimes just too full, but not us. We are always there for you and yours.

Did you know that only as recently as the 1960s the survival rate for acute myeloid leukemia was only about 14%?

Now that number pushes 30-40%. Twice, nearly three times as many survivors. Every day we are making strides in improving cancer care. That means new drugs, immunotherapies, transplant, supportive care, and medical intervention that wasn't even imagined a decade ago is now in our hands to help our patients.

We're Obliteriding to cure cancer faster — and I need your support!

This August, beneath Mount Rainier, bald eagles, and an enormous orange banner, we're joining thousands of people in Seattle to bike and raise money to obliterate cancer.

We're doing this because we're ready for a world where no family has to fear this disease. We’re making progress, but we have a long way to go.

Every Obliteride-raised dollar goes to lifesaving research at Fred Hutch — and the Hutch won’t stop they have cures for all cancers. Already, researchers there are advancing breakthrough treatments, ramping up prevention and diagnosis, and bringing together the best minds in science, tech, and business to save more lives, more quickly.

It’s amazing! But bold research takes money — and that’s where we come in.

Please donate today and join us in putting cancer in its place: behind us.

Thank you.
