Dear Friends,

As many of you know, Tamela has cancer.

Our family is not unique, though. We all know someone with cancer and that's why we've created this page; we believe there is a lot of life left to live for those with this disease. My mom would not have this hope if it weren't for places like Fred Hutch.

Before I tell you more about why it's a great idea to join our team, I want to say, "Thank you." If you are reading this, you are probably one of the people who has extended your love and support to my mom over the past several months.

During the most difficult times of this journey, I have experienced immense peace unlike anything I've ever known. My mom has experienced something similar.

I believe this peace comes from God and I also believe it comes from your generousity.

The outpouring of support you have shown us is truly life-giving. From telling mom how much she means to you - to offering rides and your delicious home-cooked meals - you've done more for my mom than you can ever know. You have given Tamela the gift of knowing she is loved and that she is never alone. This gift has given all of us the strength we need to keep doing our best. Thank you for loving my mom.

And now for Fred Hutch and my mom's brilliant and compassionate care poviders: Heidi, Renee, Tami, Rose, Ellie, Holly, Paulette, Molly, and Pamela - Your wisdom and kindness are unparalleled. I wish everyone could have a team like yours.

Being in the Fred Hutch system has given us hope that we didn't know we had. With SCCA's help, we are learning to change the way we describe this fight: there is more "living with cancer", than "dying from cancer." Thank you for the precious time you have given us.

Our family has decided that we want to continue using some of this time to find a cure.

That's why we’re Obliteriding to cure cancer faster — and we need your support! Please consider donating to or joining our team. We would LOVE to have you with us!

This August, beneath Mount Rainier, bald eagles, and an enormous orange banner, we’re joining thousands of people in Seattle to bike, run, walk, and raise money to obliterate cancer.

We’re doing this because we are ready for a world where no family has to fear this disease. Researchers are making great progress, but we’re not there yet: One in three people will still face cancer in their lifetime.

One hundred percent of every Obliteride-raised dollar goes to lifesaving research at Fred Hutch — and the Hutch won’t stop until they have cures for all cancers. Already, researchers there are advancing breakthrough treatments, ramping up prevention and diagnosis, and bringing together the best minds in science, tech, and business to save more lives, more quickly.

It’s amazing! But bold research takes money — and that’s where you come in.

Please donate today and join us in putting cancer in its place: behind us. Any donation, small or large is appreciated. If you want to ride or walk with us, please call Tamela and she can tell you more.

Thank you Tamela's Tumoraiders! We appreciate all your love, support, and prayers. Where there is love, there is peace. We cannot thank you enough.

With love and hope,

Mom, Dad, Monica, Matt, Amber, Elliott, and Quinn
