Maria Rimkus McLaughlin was a shining light who made each and every person in her life feel like the most special human in the world. Her hearty laugh, incessant smile, open heart and generous spirit led her to live several lifetimes in just 50 short years. She was always happy and positive, never complained, and always saw the glass completely full, even when she was sick. Maria set the standard on how to live life with pure joy and she loved unconditionally. She is missed by so many, but she will always hold a place in our hearts. Maria left her strong, and indelible mark all over the world. Her lasting legacy lives on through her 13-year-old twins Max and Nico.
Please join the family and friends of Maria in supporting Fred Hutch researcher Dr. Supriya Saha as he pursues targeted cures for cholangiocarcinoma, or biliary tract cancer. As one of only a few researchers in the world diving into the molecular underpinnings of this disease, Dr. Saha intends to transform care for those facing cholangiocarcinoma.
This highly lethal form of liver cancer has been increasing in incidence worldwide for decades, but Dr. Saha is uniquely positioned to vanquish this aggressive disease. With your help, we can move this research forward faster, delivering hope to those facing this cancer now and in the future.
