WELCOME TO DEFEAT MULTIPLE MYELOMA

**UPDATE**

A family friendly virtual run/walk benefiting Fred Hutch. To maintain social distancing and keep our community healthy Defeat Myeloma is going virtual for 2020! We hope you’ll join us outside on Sunday, June 28, 2020 from your own neighborhood. Take a photo wearing your race shirt from this year or past years and share it with us on social media using #defeatmyeloma.

Dr. Damian Green will be sharing his annual remarks with us via video on June 28. This will be shared via email to all registrants, as well as here, and on our Defeat Multiple Myeloma Facebook page!

The cause hasn't changed. The need is still there. We need you. Join us in raising funds and awareness for multiple myeloma cancer research.

Our Mission

Defeat Multiple Myeloma’s mission is to raise awareness of multiple myeloma while supporting research that seeks to discover new treatments, improve the quality of life for multiple myeloma patients, and ultimately find a cure for this devastating form of cancer.

Event History

Defeat Multiple Myeloma began as MoveMMORE Seattle in 2013. The race was presented by Multiple Myeloma Opportunities for Research and Education (MMORE), a 501(c)(3) that was founded in Ohio by the parents of a young woman who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma at the age of 22. Fortunately, their daughter, Sarah, is in remission and happily living in Seattle with her husband and two children. MMORE closed its doors at the end of 2016, passing the torch to larger organizations. With the help of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Multiple Myeloma Cure Seeker’s Society, and our amazing group of dedicated volunteers, we’ve been given the opportunity to keep this wonderful event going.

In 2017, this event transitioned to Defeat Multiple Myeloma Run/Walk, with 100% of funds raised supporting multiple myeloma research at Fred Hutch. Defeat Myeloma Run/Walk 2019 was a huge success with more than 600 participants. We can’t wait for Defeat Myeloma 2020 and hope you will join us! We know that with the help of the amazing Seattle community, we will see a day when there is a cure for multiple myeloma. Until then, we are committed to fundraising for a cure!
